Because the process is integral to the success of each project, we reference the same systematic approach. Through a sequence of design phases, we meticulously gather information, program design requirements, ideate design concepts, collaborate through a series of layered presentations, and ultimately implement ideas into reality.

Initiate
This is the first step towards forming a relationship. Through an initial phone interview and client survey, we broadly discuss Who, What, When, Where, and Why. Soon afterwards we generate a design proposal, inclusive of our design fee and an estimated timeline. Approve the proposal and remit retainer fee to secure WP+ID for the remainder of the project.
Programming
During this initial phase in the process, we research and gather information to determine the project goals, as well as the design and performance requirements. This can be achieved through several methods, including client interviews, bubble diagrams, quick sketches, and in-home evaluations of existing conditions. Once we clearly establish the project requirements, we are ready to transition to Design Development.
Design Development
With a purpose and goal clearly established, we begin laying the design groundwork. By exploring design concepts, we start to identify the design language. Then, through a series of layered presentations, we begin defining the design elements. We finesse space planning, generate elevations, 3D renderings, materials, finishes, and fixtures, as well as the soft design elements like furniture and accessories. Ultimately, we hone until we have identified 90% of the design.
Construction Docs
During this phase in the process, we assemble the necessary documents required for the contractor to bid, and ultimately construct the project. This phase is heavy on details pertinent to construction, including plans, elevations, sections, and details. Inclusive of Interior Design services, we also identify details for all the soft design elements for client approval. Once construction documents and soft design elements are approved, we finish this phase by issuing the design documents for construction and upon receipt of payment, begin placing furniture orders.
Project Management
This phase is from when Construction Documents are issued and orders are placed, until construction completion. For remodels where we manage construction, we oversee the subcontractors, maintain schedule adherence, perform site visits, and ensure overall quality control. For New Construction projects, we attend site meetings to ensure important design details are captured, and to maintain open communication and collaboration with the architect and contractor. With Interior Design services, we are tracking shipping and receiving, warehousing furniture, and preparing for installation. At this time, any outstanding information related to construction or interior design is finalized, and construction is complete.
Installation
Lastly, for projects inclusive of Interior Design services, we oversee installation of all furniture and accessories and apply the finishing touches that complete the space. We then professionally photograph the space prior to closing out the project.
